Can I connect my card like this?

This is only temporary until I get my custom cables, but I need to test my card.  Is it ok to have the connector on the right hanging off and unplugged like that?

 

Just for the record, I find it somewhat ridiculous that my PSU doesn’t come with any single PCIe connectors.
