Do i need better case for better airflow?

Curesto

Hi, inside of my case gets very hot in warm days. My case has only a 80mm exhaust fan. It affects tempatures of my CPU and GPU.

I'm also thinking about to getting new case with better airflow.

Here's my case:

Here's temps on CS:GO, it's about 6-7 degrees hotter than it should be on cooler days.

According to the picture, your temps seem fine. It’s quite hot for CS, but it’s still nowhere near thermal throttling. Now if you want a better case for the looks? Go ahead. Looks like a rats nest in there. (Also the better airflow should help a bit C:)

but overall, the 280x is a hot running card, and you have the stock intel cooler. Replacing the CPU cooler would make a pretty decent difference CPU temp wise

Thanks, i quite like the case but it's an 14 years old case, i think i'll get new one in future.

Also, GPU needs repasting thermal paste, but i'm afraid to do it.

dont would about the rats nest comments. old case dont have anywhere to really work with cable. with a bit of effort you can clean it up a bit.

for your temps. sure an new airflow focus case and/or a better cooler and/or a better cooler. but if your temp were better before with this config in the past. I would it's time for new thermal paste. mx4 or artic silver 5 is usually cheap, easy to get, and should be fine. most TIMs dont have a break in period, but AS5 does so if temps seem high or the same for the first week or so dont be alarmed.

I've changed the thermal paste not long ago (1 months ago). I've used Xigmatek PTI-G3606.

Airflow would definitely help. And there are plenty of inexpensive case with good airflow. Is this system ATX or mATX?

Honestly I've seen worse.. looks like you have a spot for a fan up front and another little one in the rear. One in the front would help feed your GPU, and the extra exhaust in the back would help your VRM cooler as well as ditching the heat coming from your CPU and GPU.  If you really wanna get crazy you can stick a fan in the dvd drive cage.  A lot guys these days probably wouldn't think much of that system, but its pretty sweet imo.

AMD R7 5800X3D | Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO, 1x T30

Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero | 32GB G.Skill Trident Z @ 3733C14

Zotac 4070 Ti Trinity OC @ 3060/1495 | WD SN850, SN850X, SN770

Seasonic Vertex GX-1000 | Fractal Torrent Compact RGB, Many CFM's

I've been thinking about the adding fans just for GPU, it gets hot and needs better airflow to stay cool.

Buying a case isn't necessary per se, you could just jam a bunch of fans, upgrading your CPU cooler, and see how it goes. But if I were you I definitely would consider it. Something like the Cougar MX-330 is an especially good case airflow-wise for the price.

Maybe, but judging by the fade I am guessing a combination of Sharpie and Crayola. He said he was a kid in a different thread and even still some guys were giving him a hard time. It just needs a couple of fans and a Hyper 212 and he is set.

About 3 years ago, i was bored and decided to paint it. I've literally painted it with watercolours.

I actually have had pretty good results with Krylon BBQ spray paint - Fairly inexpensive and would also help with corrosion resistance.

Gloss enamel works too if you prefer shiny.

I'm thinking about the getting an cheap mint-condition retro case as mine is bit damaged, then paint it with spray.

I think it would make it completely retro system as CPU, MB and RAM is from 2007.

Hmm 2007 I probably had one of those Antec P180s.

The problem is i should find one that has enough space for my GPU as it's an 30.7 CM GPU.

On that one the center drive cage is removable. Should fit.

That's good. It really has modern looking for a 2007 case if i'm not mistaken, or is it standard for these years? I would like to find more compact ones, but GPU might be a problem.

Hmm I think that came out in 2005? 2006? It was pretty advanced for its time, having a rudimentary PSU shroud which is very common today.

Prior to the P180, I had this guy, don't remember the name.

I like cube-shaped cases, they look cute. Is there's a case that cube-shaped?
