Weird color switching from HDMI to DP

Hello,

 

I've a Samsung u32j59x (4k 60hz display) and up until now I used it with the provided HDMI cable.

To free the HDMI port on my rtx 2070 to plug a rift I've bought this Display Port 1.2 (which should cover 4k @ 60Hz:

And I've noticed weird-ish color happening, nothing too weird but color seems different and I seem to have lost range in the black level.

Is that normal? Have I been scammed with my DP cable not really being 1.2? Is it a setting problem? halp?

Make sure the output dynamic range is set to full.

Ok I just tried to put my HDMI to full and indeed I have now the same color theme than if I put my DP. 

So I'm guessing I'm just not used to the true color of my screen?
