H100i V2 won't mount properly

So I bought an H100i V2 and am really struggling to get it mounted properly. I have the standoffs into my original backplate as it says, Then I tried going through the typical mounting. My issue is I can't get the thumbscrews to properly screw in and I end up just spinning my standoffs if I ever get the thumbscrews on. It's resulting in not enough mounting pressure as the Corsair software reports around 31 degrees while coretemp if telling me temperatures in the 60s-70s. Anyone have any recommendations or ideas on how to fix this? My thumb screws don't seem to thread properly onto the standoffs.

@WhyNot92 Double check that you are using the correct stand offs for your CPU. I have the H15i and the documentation was not that clear. If you use the wrong stand offs, you will not be able to snug your cooler down so your temps will be bad.
