PSU with 16 amps cable

Go to solution Solved by Kilrah,

Just use any cable you already have that fits in the PSU.

I recently got a new PC with Gigabyte p850gm PSU, the power cable for the psu was different from the usual 3 pin plug size and it was rated for 16 amps- 250 volts. I am unsure why I got a 16amp with the power supply, the previous power cable which I had was smaller than this one and I could plug it into any electrical outlet around the house. The website spec describes the follows:

Input Voltage: 100-240 Vac (full range)
Input Current: 12-6 A
Input Frequency: 60-50 Hz

Do I have to call and electrician and get a new outlet for the plug? or have I got the wrong cable for the PSU?

I have attached the size comparing the two cables. The one on the right can be plugged in any extension or outlet but the right one just doesn't fix anywhere.

^ With the thicker gauge wires being better, in case you have a bag with old spare cables and some old compatible cables might be too thin.  Of these two plugs shown on the photograph, just reuse the one that fits for your outlets.
