here's a much better build for less $$$

Budget (including currency): $2,600 USD

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly used for gaming and making videos.

Other details ,

I am upgrading from an old intel i5 build with integrated graphics. I'm thinking of buying it all from Amazon in about 2 weeks or so, but if that's not a good idea I can easily change. I play 1080p and I CURRENTLY play with a 75hz monitor but am going to upgrade to a 165 hz monitor.

This is my first build, and I'm actually pretty nervous it'll go wrong, so any feedback on the list and stuff would be greatly appreciated

If you want to downgrade, you can use a Ryzen 5900X, 3080, and 2X16GB or 2X8GB. If you do, you can use a 850W power supply. If you desire, you can use a Corsair 680X case.

I do agree with Henry2026, and I currently have a similar build, but you can still save some money doing the following:
-Use Newegg Shuffle to attempt to win the opportunity to buy either the processor or the RTX 3090 card (I managed to get the 5950x and the RTX 3090 2 weeks ago in this way).

-Explore buying via eBay either "Buy it now" or winning an "Auction", this is how I got my other RTX 3090 and my previous Gigabyte Aorus Master z390.

-Hunt online and at stores for promotions (like Microcenter, Staples, etc.).

-There are also people like me selling their mint condition and barely used parts because we just upgraded and there you can get good products at a lower price (currently selling my four DDR4 modules of 16GB each Corsair for almost $200 dollar cheaper than market value example).

Strategy, patience, and luck are the key to building or upgrading your computer nowadays (if you already have the $ and yet want to save some bucks), and remember where there's a will there's a way.

Best,
