pc stops connection from monitor when playing games

i have a gtx 770, an amd a10 7870k, 16GB of g skill ares ram (8 each). When i am playing games, my pc will freeze for a couple minutes, then restart. Or, sometimes it will disconnect from the monitor. does anyone know why this is happening? i am on windows 10
