cleare cmos after faulty overclock, now system won't post

charlieril13

i'm running a ryzen 5 3600 on a rog strix b450-f gaming, and i tried to overclock the cpu to 3.7ghz, just to test. i set the voltage to 1, because it wasn't letting me put in decimals. after doing this, the system didn't post, so i cleared the cmos and tried again. still nothing. after clearing the cmos a couple more times trying different methods and waiting for different lengths of time, i still had nothing. can anyone identify the issue or help me out?? this is my first build and i've only had it for about 2 months. i'm kinda freaking out lmao

...........what different methods did you try?

Your manual describes the following method (I have the same mobo)

Turn off PC and unplug power cord

Short Clear RTC pin for 5-10 seconds

....and done! Plug PC back in and boot it up.

EDIT: This is the one and only method you should use on this board. Just for the record...

i tried reseating the battery, shorting the pins and also holding the power button down for 30 seconds. (this is all while the power supply is unplugged and turned off)

Well if you did what I said (exactly how I said it) something is clearly wrong with your board (or something else). I would look into the possibility for RMA.
