My first ever build 🤷🏻 Need help advice

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Sports titles ie Fifa 21, F1 2020 and FPS

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): 

My first build, looking for a mid range build to start off for a 1080p 144hz monitor

Just a heads up, you can post a link of your pc part picker list and the form will format to that we can look at it with more ease. Much easier that taking a ton of screen shots.

System looks really balanced, but you should be able to get a ryzen 5600x now that availability is better, it’ll increase costs by about $100, but it’ll perform a lot bette in FPS titles. It’ll slot in with the same motherboard, so no need to swap anything out if you decide then upgrade is worth it.

 

I personally would get a 1440p 144hz freesync monitor, you can lower the game resolution to 1080p if you struggle hitting the targets you want there, but some titles will are a bit more visual and the GPU you chose can get you most of the way there. 
 

Getting freesync on a monitor helps clean up the spots where it’s bouncing from 80-120fps and it’s very noticeable, makes it feel smoother but it’s generally unwanted at the highest professional level. Great for all casual uses and and most pros will use it until the top 99 percentile.

Ok thanks for your advice, the only problem I found with the 5600x is the bios on the motherboard needs updating which I’m not sure I can do without an old cpu or old computer?

Check with each board manufacturer notes, but I thought B550 boards supported the Ryzen 5xxx series out the box? Worth getting a 5600X if your budget will stretch and if you can find one. BIOS version will definitely be an issue if you decide to save a few quid and go for a B450 board though: you'll need to borrow an older CPU, flash it, then upgrade the CPU.

 

As per Jumballi's comment: Overall system looks like a good balance - maybe check the storage needed for all your games though: if Warzone is on the list, you'll chew a quarter of your storage on that alone.

 

For screens - what is your budget? I'd highly recommend something like a Gigabyte M27Q: 27", 1440P and 170Hz. That 5700XT should easily handle it, given my 1660Super copes just fine in pretty much everything at max details.

Thanks for your advice much appreciated.  So if I get a 5600X will it be ok with the B550 motherboard without having to mess around with the BIOS? 
 

imlooking at around £300 for the monitor so il look for the best in the range.

 

I can get a rtx 2060 right now so thinking of just buying that instead of the 5700XT, will that affect anything?

Check with each board, but B550's should support Ryzen 5xxx straight out the box. 

 

Both those graphics cards will be fine for 1080p gaming with the RTX having much better ray tracing + streaming support. If neither of those is a deal breaker for you, just get whatever you can get for a senseible price.
