M.2 heatsink / back of motherboard / Thermal pad pressure

RelmDrifter

I have an M.2 drive installed on the backside of my motherboard, and it gets pretty hot. 86°c (summer is coming and it may get worse)

I have about 4.3mm of space to work with. If I use a 4mm heatsink with a 0.5mm thermal pad, will the 0.2mm create too much pressure?

I can shave the heatsink down to correct it. My theory was to have the heatsink contact the MB mounting plate of the case to further heat transfer.
