Did malwarebytes give me a false detection?

So i did a scan about 5 minutes ago and malwarebytes says two files in my assassins creed 1 folder are malware. Is this a false detection because I bought the game on steam and i don't have any mods installed. Hell I haven't even opened the game yet and I've had the game installed for months.

Here's what the scan log said.

Malware.AI.3734155703, F:\GAMES\STEAM\STEAMAPPS\COMMON\ASSASSINS CREED\DETECTION\DETECTION.EXE, No Action By User, 1000000, 0, 1.0.39233, DD8DFFD3BB7316BEDE92B1B7, dds, 01192821, 5F6647DBE0E2E799EC6E133D8DD43ADF, 5363A6649614C2ADB24A494F7B9F2DAD52EE932AE509EA8F347F4242D91C55FD

False-positives happen far more often then they should. If AV engines don't already, they should be validating again with SHA-256 or SHA-512 hashes, but I digress.

You can always upload a link or file to https://www.virustotal.com/gui/ which checks them against other AV engines. Pretty useful at sleuthing out whether or not it's a legit threat.

Sounds like it is accurately detecting Ubisoft products as malware to me. 🤷‍♂️

In any case, that's just Ubisoft's tool to detect if your PC meets the required specs of the game, by connecting and uploading your pc specs online. For MB, it probably looks as if it was some kind of invasive tool that scans your PC for some nefarious reason. It is also used in other applications, like any sort of scanning tool from Intel, Nvidia, etc.

IMO, it shouldn't even be a thing for Ubisoft, since at that point, you've already downloaded the damn game and wasted your time and bandwidth on it. They have their own launcher that they force people to use for their games, it shouldn't be hard for them to bake that into uPlay instead and save people's time and money if they somehow can't run the game they want to buy.
