Yahoo Answers is shutting its down.

Summary

Yahoo Answers will be shutting down on May 4th, 2021 at EST. Prior to this, on April 20th, the site will be put in read-only mode. 

After May 4th, users will be redirected to the Yahoo home page. Users have until June 30, 2021 to download their content. Try to get it started by the beginning of June though, as it can take up to 30 days for the data to be ready.

To that end, we have decided to shift our resources away from Yahoo Answers to focus on products that better serve our members and deliver on Yahoo’s promise of providing premium trusted content.

Yahoo stated that if there is any feedback or comments about this, an email can be sent to yahoo_answers_sunset@verizonmedia.com. The shutdown will not have any impact on other services.

 

My thoughts

May the 4th be with you, but not everyone will be with us. Yahoo Answers, which is often great for both serious questions and for becoming a meme, will be leaving us. Frankly, I am puzzled by this. I would think Yahoo Answers is their biggest market, even after they were acquired by Verizon a few years back. I hope someone makes a backup, as the site is a big part of internet history. Rest in peace, old friend.

Im thinking Quora SEO basically driving them off people's mind? But really both is a trash quality place to get answer on any topics, filled with idiot know-it-alls.

Eh Yahoo can burn. Their news site suckz donkey balls. Their comment section over a year has been disabled because and I quote, 

 

"Our goal is to create a safe and engaging place for users to connect over interests and passions. In order to improve our community experience, we are temporarily suspending article commenting."

 

Their a bunch of wokies that hate free-speech or don't know what it is and like their safe space. I don't trust any news-site that disabled their comment section as not to receive any criticism.

Yahoo answers is where I would attempt to cover various heavy metal songs while using my iPads voice to type, and then posting my answer as whatever came up.

RIP all the "Can is I get Pregante?" threads on Yahoo Answers. 

 

I've used it for references and quick answers many times in the past. But I've never posted anything on it, or ever thought about posting there.

What's weird is that I realized Google must have pretty much blacklisted Yahoo Answers from their results because it's been years since I've been there.  I remember 10 years ago they were super common to be first-page results.
