Thanks. I'd move it myself but I can't find how.

I don't know if it would waste any water at all. I think it would work well (especially in the UK in winter) but this is why it needs testing.

Ya can message a mod to move it. As for how it would work... Even if perhaps the water was almost a slight trickle... I reckon it would be effective, I just hate to see water go to waste ya know?

My Rig:

I get that but, if it absorbs enough heat, there would be no need to have the water running any more than it would normally.

A while back on ltt there was a really good video on ways to save battery life on a laptop. It would be great to see a version of that for smartphones.

Depends on what you're doing with it of course and which particular phone (as some newer ones have much better battery saving features). But clear ones to look out for are:-

  • Screen on time.
  • 4G connectivity.
  • WIFI
  • Apps running in background
  • Apps Auto starting
  • Bluetooth, depending on age (version number)

There are some good apps that can help with battery saving too.

Please quote my post, or put @paddy-stone if you want me to respond to you.

They did.

And why it died (I quote myself xD):

Spoiler

I guess I'm the spectre of old threads *<:{p"

As mentioned by The Verge and Tom's Hardware, the Intel Compute Card died because it does not "make sense in an era of cloud computing and ubiquitous cellular connectivity [and was] a nightmare for appliance vendors".

  aHR0cDovL21lZGlhLmJlc3RvZm1pY3JvLmNvbS9ZLzUvODI5MzczL29yaWdpbmFsLzE1NTMyODUyNTY3NDYuanBn

IMHO It would very convenient to be able to carry a full-featured PC the size of a mini wallet and just plug it into whatever computing interface or smart device/appliance anywhere I go. This is the problem: who would invest billions into rolling-out entirely new computing infrastructure when everyone already has smartphones, always-on ultrabooks, and internet-based Chromebooks?

 aHR0cDovL21lZGlhLmJlc3RvZm1pY3JvLmNvbS9ZLzYvODI5Mzc0L29yaWdpbmFsLzE1NTMyODUyODMxNTkuanBn

Similar still-ongoing efforts ~ everything below ~ to integrate if not completely merge portable computing with desktop-class utility are gaining traction, but there will not be a universal "mainstream" platform until our smartphones and tablets can seamlessly transition into our Windows and OS X powered equivalents (not only physically -- like folding, docking, tethering, & syncing -- but the capability and versatility of apps and programs as well).

Always a pleasure,

Josh

Update video on : (No this is the cleanest setup ) Video

so a while back Linus did make a video in which he basically turned a laptop into a full workstation setup

This idea of your laptop being your gaming pc/workstation  is so appealing to me and i always had dreamed of something like this

except the main difference in my dream setup that i'm not using a laptop instead ( wait for it ) using a 2 in 1

so here is the deal  , I've  always wanted a one device that could do EVERYTHING
and the only way i found to come close to this dream  is by using dell's latitude-5290-2-in-1 ( i7 configure all on the highest) or Lenovo's thinkpad x1 gen 3 tablet , ( i prefer dell due to smaller size and also there is a lot of reports of screen issues on Lenovo)

both of those tablets are so special because the tablets have thunderbolt 3  so they could support external gpu

and  they have intel gen 8 U series cpu thats mean a real 4 cores performance
so in theory i could use this tablet to do literally EVERYTHING

So basically swipe out razer laptop with one of this tablets and TADA !

Advantages of the tablet to razer :

1. installing android along side windows and using the tablet as android tablet

2. using the tablet as retro emulation device using ipega telescopic controllers

3. you could use it either as a tablet or laptop

Dell link : https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/dell-laptops-and-notebooks/latitude-5290-2-in-1/spd/latitude-12-5290-2-in-1-laptop/CTO45290132N1US

so that's my dream setup ... i wish i could afford it :"D

Would also be good to see Anthony as a competitor in scrapyard wars. Maybe right after LTX with a guest or two as well. A straight up super budget benchmark competition would be cool. Both gaming and hobby content creation (for example 1080p) benchmarks would be nice. Perhaps with a trophy for the winner in gaming benchmarks and one for the winner in content creation. You could also let the camera operators be allowed to be asked to make calls to avoid use of influence but still allow price negotiations.

It would be fun to have a scrapyard wars where in addition to picking parts on a budget they have to make a PC case out of a non-PC case. A super fun example would be if they were limited to Ikea or something like that.

Off the back of last night's WAN show.

Chairs.

My current chair is starting to show it's age, and I've been thinking about replacing it later this summer. A content set for chairs I think would be very useful.

Would need to cover a few scenarios of course, including but by no means limited to:

  • Price brackets
  • Weight support (I know I'm a big heavy guy, and I'm sure I'm not the only one)
  • Adaptability (i.e. scope of adjustments for height, depth, tilt, etc)
  • Arms or no arms?
  • Build quality (I've seen a few horrendous chairs that friends and colleagues have picked up over the years)

Plus of course general guidance on how to work out what size you actually need when taking into account things like leg length, arm reach, etc.

But i came with an idea . would he ever watercool a watercooler which watercooling a whole system? Who knows. Maybe he is crazier than me to do such thing.

It would appear so.

Not exactly what I was thinking, if I had the time and equipment I'd experiment to see how effective static water in 15mm copper pipe at varying lengths would be. Also I'd see how much water flow would be needed and how it would affect temps.

edit: Raja Korduri did the last one, but still ?

They did kinda. Just not the entire house.

Linus did a video or three on smart speakers ~ Apple HomePod, Google Home Max & Mini, and Amazon Echo Dot starring Big Mouth Billy Bass (my favorite :D):

  Reveal hidden contents

.

And Facebook's dedicated Skype-machine (the Portal):

And his smartphone-activated '80s garage door:

And a prototype Renault self-driving car (way ahead of Tesla):

And 3 other dodads like a smart bathrug and the Philips Hue (when the script incapacitates Linus xD):

  Reveal hidden contents

.

But yeah it would be kind of cool if they did a "HOME OF THE FUTURE" with all kinds of smart-appliances and gadgets ?

Yea my thought was to be a home of the future

I think the only thing remotely close Linus has reviewed his DIY smart 30-year-old garage door and a Tile-like GPS tracking device for his kids (or Yvonne's handbag) B|

A while ago, I discovered a new brand I had never heard of before, called Svive. I was kinda excited for Nvidia now supporting freesync, and though I'd get a freesync monitor, and the cheapest 27" 1440p 144hz freesync monitor I found was a Svive monitor. Now, they make a bunch of different gaming related stuff, that is headphones, mice, keyboards, wireless routers, chairs, microphones, microphone accessories and computer cases.

Turns out, this is a brand aimed at the Nordic market. They don't seem to be selling outside of Scandinavia. On their website, if you click the Norwegian flag in the upper right corner, you'll get a list of stores where you can buy their products, but I've only heard of Komplett.no (and Komplettbedrift.no, which is just Komplett.no for companies). Komplett.no is basically the place to go if you want to build your own PC in Norway. There's also Komplett.se in Sweden and Komplett.dk in Denmark.

I'd love to see a review of Svive products.

I can point out one catch here and now: If you have a problem, you'll find nothing on Google.
