Canada Child Protect caught spreading child porn using AWS services

You've become the Very thing you swore to Destroy.

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I'm Swiss and my Mother language is Swiss German of course, I speak the Aargauer dialect. If you want to watch a great video about Swiss German which explains the language and outlines the Basics, then click here.

If I could just play Videogames and consume Cool Content all day long for the rest of my life, then that would be sick.

But if say, they knew it and just let it happen by turning a blind eye.. now that's actually something they could be found guilty of.

That's exactly how cloudflare operates.

There seems to be some confusion here.

First, to clarify: Canada Child Protect is NOT a Government Agency. They're not part of the Canadian Government in any capacity. They are not part of "Children's Aid Society" (CAS). They're a registered charitable organization, nothing more.

Second: I'm very unclear as to what is actually happening here. CCP is using "SauceNao" - which is a reverse image search engine - to upload and search for images of the content in question?

It seems to me that SauceNao is claiming they're doing it solely to "report" the images found (report to who?) that CCP uploaded?

Who are they reporting them to? And for what purpose? If they report it to the RCMP, for example, the RCMP will be able to tell from the logs that it came from CPP, which is counter productive (and would possibly also make what they are doing a crime).

Or, are they simply searching to see if there are more examples of the image in question? Perhaps as part of some investigation?

Or they’re being attacked or something.  This could be like that attack on acorn where a guy made something like 400 failed attempts but one of them didn’t say no immediately because he wanted to call the cops so the person trying to destroy the group trumpeted the success without mentioning either the 399 fails or the fact that even the 400th one wasn’t actually a success

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

This is explained in the Twitter thread, basically, they upload CSAM material for image reverse search, the image they upload is "seen" by the bot in the search result and they then report that image they uploaded as CSAM to SauceNeo (SauceNeo is then in charge of alerting the authorities), CCP is denying all that and SauceNeo is getting tired of their shit but doesn't seems ready to report them to the authorities (he wants them to fix their bot)

Another thing to note ; that bot hasn't find anything other than it's own uploaded pictures. The SauceNeo admin refuses to look at the images CCP is uploading, he saw one, and said it's just a girl, clothed, without anything sexual about it (I'm guessing they have normal pictures of victims and they're trying to get facial recognition matches).

A lot of image boards and other websites have a SauceNAO button to reverse image search the image in the post, some have theorized that their crawler goes to that link, which uploads the said image to SauceNAO, and the crawler sees the preview image and detects it as CSAM and reports it

🙂

Why doesn't SauceNeo just report them to the RCMP then and get it over with? Even if they're not strictly illegal images, they're being flagged as such, and there must be some kind of law against repeatedly abusing a system like that,

I don't blame him for not wanting to look at them.
