83C safe on gtx 970 after overclocking?

rippy4500

Ive been messing around with overclocks for a bit and i found 100mhz on core and 600mhz on memory to be a decent overclock. It peaks at 83C and i tested this using furmark, will this temperature be bad for my gpu over time or will it work just fine?

my system:

It technically is but its quite high for what little core overclock you got there. When was the last time the thermal paste was changed on that thing?

in general 83c is fine, in furmark that is pretty good result in temps.

i would not worry about it.

Also have you ever replaced thermalpaste? If not you should. on older gpus like your it can be over 10c difference in temps.

like half a year ago, but my case airflow isnt the best, i have 2 basic fans that came with my case, 1 intake on front and 1 exhaust at back.

what exact case?

also what fan speed? custom or stock?

Phanteks p400a, my motherboard bios has a smart fan feature or something i remember there is a stock and a quiet preset, it may be on quiet. I will set it to stock if it is not already. Also my 970 runs at 79-80 at stock

p400A has good airflow but you could add more fans in the front for intake. also bios settings do not affect gpu fans.

you can make a custom fan curve with msi afterburner for example

I was talking about my case fans, and my gpu fans are already going pretty fast and running very loud at stock fan curve.

edit: I could probably move my current front fan on top as exhaust then buy a 3 pack of fans for the front that might help a bunch
