Concern about pulling power from 1 8pin for 2 6pin connectors

Albert F

Hi there I really don't know how to address this issue or even name the topic but in short terms I want to but a Seasonic Core GM 500W PSU ( https://seasonic.com/core-gm ) and I am concerned about one thing.

I want in the near future to buy a GTX970 that requires 2 6pin connectors and the PSU only has one 8pin cable coming from the actual box. Now in the manufacturers website in the listed accessoryes it has this weird cable that has 2 6/8pin connectors along one cable ( https://seasonic.com/core-gm#cables ).

Is it safe for me to run?

yea for a 970 this is completely fine.

these things exist exactly for your use case, the only time where this could be a problem is with very high powered GPU´s.

for example my 6900XT needs two 8 pin power cables and they specifically say it needs to come from two cables directly because it draws too much power for one of them to handle.
