Gigabyte Thermal pad issues and voiding warranty

Hey guys, i have RTX 3080 gaming oc from gigabyte, been using it for three months, didn't mine with it, however memory temps at stock seems to be too high, it's around 100c while gpu itself heats to 67c.

I did post earlier, and it's well know issue not only for gigabyte but seen someoone with msi suprim card with same issue. Gigabyte has terrible support, i asked them about thermal pads and can i change it myself, there is plenty of people with same issue and atleast in USA people are changing them, but i am in Europe. And gigabyte responded that i shouldn't dissasemble my card myself, i should bring it to retailer and they should send it to them. However i heard that it takes month to get card back and i have no warranty if i will get card back at all, they might say, ogh sorry we wanted to replace it but we are out of stock, so we will give your money back, i got it for 1240eur and now 3080s go for 2.5k eur, so if i get my money back i can't even buy rtx 3070 for same money. Also i don't have backup gpu to live month with no GPU. What to do ? should i ignore GIGABYTE and just change pads myself, but what about warranty even though there is no sticker on card with void warranty if removed. I am not breaking card just improving... I am so lost.. suggestions ?

sell it for 2.5k eur and get another model around that price

My PCs: Desky | Beddie | Miney | Benchie

Things I need help with: (nothing at the moment)

Spoiler

none atm

I hate Intel's pricing, Ryzen's weird quirks, Nvidia's pricing, and Radeon GPUs in general

Spoiler

Products I like:

Spoiler

Sony Xperia Z1 / Z2 / 10 ii, Asus Strix 970 / 1070, Samsung SSD, WD HDD, Corsair PSUs (AX, RM, CX(grey)), GeForce GPU, NZXT N450/S340, be quiet! Coolers, G.Skill Trident RAM, Logitech M525, Logitech G440, Razer Deathadder Elite

Products I hate:

Spoiler

Xperia Z3, XiaoMi 5c, Radeon GPUs, Razer Audio Products, any bloatwares

Companies I absolutely adore: (and hope it stays that way)

Spoiler

be quiet! - sent me AM4 mounting for my DRP3 even though it's way past the timeframe stated, no questions asked

Corsair - very good RMA experience, absolutely recommend

Companies I hate:

Spoiler

Nvidia, Intel, Apple, TMT (Thundermatch, a retailer)

Personal Blacklisted Companies:

Spoiler

Acer: shit tier quality products, shit tier customer service thus far, they "tried" to solve my issue but they arent really doing anything but delaying and delaying. (on-going case since July)

Gigabyte: horrible customer service (gigabyte had literally 0 customer service, asked me to go to retailer with NO WAY to email them about a question) but at least they fixed my shit in ONE MONTH (would probably take me 1 hour to fix if they let me email them)

XiaoMi Phones: built like a tank but the software is buggy as all hell

Seagate HDD: had too many dead seagate drives

Kingston SSD: 300V controller swap thingy

Razer (except their mouse)

Remember, just because I had good/bad experiences with these companies/product, doesn't mean you will have similar experiences too. I would still recommend these products if they made sense for your needs, but I'll add a disclaimer of my experience if it's relevant. Feel free to DM me asking why they are where they are.

Ask for a cross-ship RMA and wait for it to be approved. You’ll need a credit card hold but that way you’ll know you have a replacement available for your card. If the customer service person you’re talking to is hesitating or not working with you just ask for a manager.

People don't want gigabyte card for that much money sadly 🙂

You could try getting a heatsink from 1 or 2U servers and paste it on the backplate using thermal pads.

This is for 3090 since there's nothing chilling the backside VRAM

3080 VRAM is only at the front
