What's a reasonable price to sell my GTX 980??

Guest

I have a GTX 980 that I've been considering selling.

Have the box, not sure about all the hardware though.....

Shipping it from chicago land area will be $20-25 bucks (us)

Does having a modded bios give it value? It's modded for gaming and OC not for mining though.

How much is it worth?

What exact model of 980? You could probably get a pretty nice price for it right now (GPU shortage, and all.) Modded BIOS might carry some value, but you'd have to sell it to a fellow enthusiast for that to really matter.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

Oh duh. Sorry for that.

It's an Asus Strix GTX 980

Really want to be reasonable.

I've never run it stock, my brother did.

I purchased it for about 150$ a couple years ago.

I could use some help with this!

No problem. There's an auction for one on Ebay US starting at $220 right now, but you could probably get a bunch more if you didn't do an auction. What's the local market like in the Chicago area?

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

You know I'm not sure what the local market looks like over here. I usually bang deals out on forums and with people across the US lol. Good idea. Let me check that out.

I ask because my advice is always to deal locally. Usually easier to make a quick sale, and you have a much lower chance of getting scammed.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Holy cow. Used Market in my area is steep in pricing.

FaceBook Market place.

1, GTX 980 Gaming 4G 529$ Bartlett, IL

2. Gigabyte 980ti 6G 475$ marked down from 675$ Mt Prospect, Il

3. Titan X pascal 12G 950$ Itasca, IL

And those are the only 3. The rest looks like GTX 960 and various other cards.

one of my gpus are breaking, in theory if it broke a 980 "rent" would be perfect (my backup atm is a 970 with a noctua 120mm mounted on it), a quick search indicates a used rtx 2060 going for 500usd, even if the 980 is slower i'd be willing to pay 350-400 for that 980, im sure you can get more, aim high.

For the 980? That probably will sell instantly.
The only gpus that have been on my local FB marketplace for mare than a day are like 15 years old (lol)

TBH I'd set it 450 and aim to get 375- 425 range for it.
And you can always lower the price of the listing if people aren't interested.

UPDATE:

I sold this card locally for the asking price of 400$ on FB marketplace.

The buyer was new at building PCs, so for free I offered to install the card and did.

Tested the rig i3 + 16gb vengeance + GTX strix 980 on my 4K TV and he was all set.

The old video card was a GT 710 from an iBuyPower PC.

Couldn't run even Fort Night, now he's 4K capable.

Happy camper, set him off on his way gaming.
