Comparison of two coolers for i5 9400f

Mishkat17

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and I have a i5 9400f 65w tdp chip. I have used the stock cooler for a year and now wanting to change it due to it's lack of enough cooling under heavy load like a cinebench r20 or even r15.So I opted to take a new cooler and due to limited supplies and shortage of products, I have two options the cooler master hyper t200 ant t20 which should I take, fan noise doesn't matter...just performance. Thank you

So, unless you let your PC sit in cinebench all day... what programs do you use that make the stock cooler inadequate? Besides a benchmark, what use case is pushing the cooler beyond its limits, and what temps are you hitting?

These two are adequate to cool that cpu.

Well the stock cooler probably enough, because A. You don't "use" cinebench all the time. B. In most apps (esp. gaming) the cpu is not doing 100%.

Check your gaming temp, if it's under 70c you got nothing to worry about.

For first few months the stock cooler was good. I had an avarage gaming(gta v, apex, valorant, pubg) temp of about 75 degrees at most. But now it reaches 85. In first few months the cinebench temps were around 85 at most...but now it reaches 95-99 after two to three runs

I had temps under 75 degrees for first 5-8 months but since then I have seen a temp increase...that reached 85 in some cases while gaming...and in cinebench after running r15 for 3 times in a row...It reached almost 95-99 degrees.

A proper heatsink installation won't change in years.

You probably only need to repaste it.

For a peace of mind just buy the new heatsinks.

There are many chinese alternative that has 4-5 heatpipes better than Hyper t200 for similar price.
If i don't already have Hyper 212, i probably gonna buy that instead.

I don't have these options In my town...and I can't buy these from amazon or any other online market...I just wanted a suggestion...This is my cpu temps...at idle...while running a couple of tabs on google. If you think it's normal than I won't bother to buy a new one....please help me on this topic(BTW my room temp is around 28-30 degrees)

This has 3 heatpipes

Idle temp seems normal for a stock cooler.

Just try to change the paste.

No problem, even a good 2 heatpipes should be good (better than stock).

If you haven't already, check and make sure that the cooler pins are properly pushed through the motherboard and are locked into place.

I was just going to suggest this.

@Mishkat17its possible the heatsink isn’t mounted quite right and isn’t making good contact with the CPU. Those idle temps seem pretty high, and usually poor heat sink contact is the reason.

I've checked. Everything is fine...I have reaplied thermal paste but the problem is there

Any idea how the fan curve is set in the BIOS? I am surprised its running so warm, especially at idle.

But to answer your question, I would think either would be fine.

I have set the curve so that the fan rises to 60% at 40c and anything above 60 I have set it on 100%

How low temps can I expect??

I have two fans exhausting air...one rear and one top
