Oh man... Something in youtube bugged out and the subtitles for this video were for the last one making it seem there was another batch of verified actual gamer stock. But nope. Just disappoints. 😛

Glad I was not the only one watching this with CC!

It starts from 4:54 and ends at 7:21.
Looks like they were planning to release the VAG into this video instead of that other one, and they didn't update the CCs.

Well someone actually bought one while I was watching the video, stock went from 11 to 10 (EU cord version).

I genuinely felt sorry for whoever paid 1900 EUR for that.

Honestly, NUCs are cool but an SFFPC is better. The FormD T1 is the best case in the world imo, it's easily portable yet fits a 3090 FE with a 240mm AIO and great thermals. What else do you really need?

A FormD T1 with a 3070 and a 5600X is cheaper than this most likely.

At 5:43, Could someone explain the "Similar PC Build" they went with? First they said that "128GB storage and 8 GB memory is less than a decent phone these days", but then proceed to compare to a 128GB storage and 8GB memory PC? Also, why an Intel 7th generation i7? Could better compare it to an intel 10100F, a $100 CPU that performs a bit better even than the i7-1165G7 on average in games... Here's a build comparison with recent parts that would the same performance or better than the NUC, totaling just under $760: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Photonman1/saved/YRmQP6

They show a comparison between the Intel NUC and a 'self-built' PC, but they're showing a 7700K system, and compare msrp prices. why is that?

Why did you say you needed to upgrade the spec to be usable....and then compare it to systems that have lower spec?

Kind of nonsensical. The similar PC should have also had 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD.

Looked into the stupidly-named i7, and it's similar to the 7700k (4 core, 8 thread).

Though I'm not sure why they wouldn't compare it to an i3-10320.

A TRULY unexpected what? I see that there's a skull on the thing that Linus is holding. It might be an Alienware product. What is it? What is the thing that you don't expect?

What's with the increased amount of clickbait lately, huh? I purposefully don't click (or watch) videos with obvious clickbait titles.

Did noone at LMG notice how terrible of a comparison this is?

Like you can get something far better in an ITX form factor for less.

Insert the 700$ scalper price rtx 2060.

Like you are paying a 300-400$ premium for what is a laptop without a screen. And you can get a laptop with comparable (or better) specs for the same ammount.

Which would be fine, but the NUC is in no way offering good value for money gaming wise. Even in these market conditions.

How much did Intel pay LMG for them to compare a 4 year old cpu that is still notoriously expensive compared to modern offerings, paired with a Z series motherboard, despite the fact that to my knowledge you can't overclock the NUC, and you don't need XMP either with the 2400mhz memory. An actually comparable build with an i3 10100f or even a 10400f, and a 500GB ssd with a RTX 2060 priced at 699$ actually comes to 1200$, and that's with 16gb of ram, and a half decent motherboard, so you could actually go cheaper.

$0 because it wasn't a sponsor spot or showcase. If they were paid and didn't disclose it that is grounds for severe repercussions

If you can find the stock for it. The whole conclusion of the video was basically that it's not that great value, but probably the best you can get in the current market. A GPU alone can cost as much as this complete PC.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

I mean wouldnt be a bad conclusion if it wasnt blatantly obvious, even with their own premise of a 700$ 2060, that you are paying a 300-400$ premium (edit: over something that performs better)

Thats not looking at available gaming laptops.

Edit:

Now one could likely argue that thunderbolt and the formfactor it presents is worth 300-400$, tho that is a different discussion

That's true. Honestly though in the US the 3070 FE at BestBuy isn't too hard. The FormD T1 is much more difficult though.

Don't call it 'compact' while keeping the PSU that's as large as the computer out of frame.
