How does the Pure Rock Slim CPU cooler work with the i7 8700k?

All I could afford at the moment is the Pure Rock Slim CPU cooler and I have an i7 8700k. I'll be gaming on it (using integrated graphics for now until i get a graphics card). Will the cooler keep up with it?

At stock it will be fine.  I used a CM Hyper 212 Evo on my 8700k at first and it even OC'd a bit.  Can't see this performing any worse.

Stock should be fine for gaming and everyday use.

IIRC Woof and I both ran 8700K's at 5GHz+ for years, I would definitely look into that as something to work towards.  It puts the chip in great company and makes it very viable in today's market still.

i used to have an i5 9600kf a few months ago, tried to OC to 4.9 on all cores and it crashed multiple times. i heard that it may be the vrms on my Gigabyte Z390UD (which i still have w/ the 8700k) but it also couldve been the i5. would that mobo be a constraint in OC'ing my 8700k to 5+?

Z390D isn't really amazing - I would run it at stock and you will have a decent experience probably.

ah you should be able to at least get 4.7ghz all core on it, but i would avoid using MCE and just do it manually.
