Rtx 3070 PSU requirements

ThatGamerDude

Ok so Its definitely time to upgrade from my GTX 780ti. It’s a solid card but it’s just seen better days in it’s time. With new games coming out it struggles. I want to go with a RTX 3070 or 3060 but I don’t know if my 850w psu is enough with the power spikes that come with ampere. So is 850w enough?

Your good the recommend power supply for the 3070 is 600w for that card and the total watts of the card is 208 watts

Whats the brand and/or the rating of the unit? 850W should be well over enough for anything up to a 3080

I have a Seasonic M12II 850. It’s rated 80+ Gold I think. It either bronze or gold not exactly sure.

Not great, could use an upgrade. It will be fine if temporary but it's not a great unit

geometry is hard
b550 > x570

you are 100% good and future ready even for cards above yours like the 3080

not really. It's actually 80+ Bronze and it's quite old. Also C on the PSU tier list

So here’s a question do you think I will have enough overclocking headroom? With power spikes.

Cool. I plan on upgrading later because my motherboard needs to be upgraded to x570 or b550 for pcie 4.0 support. So that gives me a good direction to go.
