after tips/opinions for a new audio n mic setup

Zohan2000

hi all, after some tips and opinions on what is a good place to start when looking at getting a new set of headphones and a new mic, been using the hyperX cloud 2s for ages now while they still work fine i feel like upgrading to something with better sound quality, ive been looking at audio-technica and beyerdynamic for headphones and the beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80ohm headphones seem to be good(i hope) would i need an amp/dac for those? would you recommend one? and what brands should i look at when looking at microphones? been looking at the Blue Microphones such as their snowball, yeti and yeticaster so any opinions there would be good, would i need some sort of audio interface to connect the headphones and mic to one place then connect that to the pc with a usb cable? or something else entirely?

thanks in advance and sorry for the mess of words

80 ohm and lower beyers dont typically need a amp/DAC and entry level or closed audio tecnica models dont require amp/DACS either adn will work fine off a good modern motherboard. if you are looking into budget USB mics I would really reccomend loong at the samson q2u or audio technica 2005 ( I run this one myself) as the dynamic nature of them make them less environment picky and generally easier to run adn sound significantly better for stuff like discord and voice chat than a snowball or in my opnion a yeti. if you can find either mic MSRP that is should be around $50-$75 MAX as beyond that other people can reccomend  a nice budget interface mic combo that will beat basically any USB mic in the $100 + price range in regards to price to performance.

If you're looking for mic options the link in my signature is a pretty good place to start. If your budget for a mic is below $100 a USB mic like the Q2U or AT2005 is your best bet, above $100 is where the fun starts with proper studio gear.

bought the beyerdynamic dt770 pro 80ohm headphones, still looking at microphones and an audio interface currently looking at the audio-technica at2020 XLR mic and using the Behringer UM2 to connect the mic and headphones to the pc, does that sound like a good match? or would you switch to something else?

Read the link as I suggested, I can always tell from gear choices who has and who hasn't XD

The AT2020 isn't a terrible mic, but there are better options for less money.

I personally am not a huge fan of the lower-end Audio Technica microphones- there's simply too many microphones at that price point that are more useful. Going up in price they have some better offerings- for example, I really like the AT4041 for what they cost.

It all depends on budget, like I said, below $100 and it's USB mic, above that I suggest you get the UMC202HD and whatever mic best fits your usecase (the but in my guide about dynamic and condenser mics and background noise). If you need a dynamic there are loads of good cheap options available, if you can get away with a full cardioid mic beat value is 3U CM1, if you can get away with supercardioid SDC Behringer C2 is the cheapest option.

Take the time to read through the guide again and if you have any specific questions let me know and I'll try to talk you through.
