AMD is Dumb… like a FOX!

AMD’s EPYC forms the basis for Threadripper, and with Zen 3, it’s not even a fair fight with Intel anymore. How can Intel turn this around, and can AMD keep it going?

Whoever wrote this has read one too many press releases.

Company being 'really proud of' [ X ] or 'laser focused on' [one of the many aspects of X they're highlighting] is ludicrous marketting BS that does not bear repeating.

Sound like AMD pulled another anvil out of their pocket to drop on intel.  Intel needs to start finding anvils I think.  We’ll see what they have to throw once they get 10mm really really online.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I wonder if clickbait could ever be used as libel

Has been iirc.  Clickbait is not a new concept.   It was around before the internet though it wasn’t called click bait.  Rupert Murdoch used to have an effective monopoly on grocery store rags like the enquirer.  They actually had a seperate department just for writing headlines seperate from the people writing the actual stories.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Not sure why people always calling clickbait what was clickbait about this title? or the video with the perf of the new Ryzen 5000 cpu of course the new cpu server would be good, welle even if we haven't seen real benchmark from anyone else than AMD it does make sense no?

All you need for every game this console generation is probably a Ryzen 1700X, 2700X, 3600 or 5600X anyhow... So lets say 6 to 8 cores?

All you need for every game this console generation is probably a Ryzen 1700X, 2700X, 3600 or 5600X anyhow... So lets say 6 to 8 cores?

1700 might be pushing it.  It’s aparrently got clock speed difficulties when stood up against jaguar2

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Zen+ in 2nd gen had higher clocks, 3600 better IPC the next gen console has Zen2 like 3000 series but that is lower clock speed and more like a laptop CPU...

AMD’s EPYC forms the basis for Threadripper, and with Zen 3, it’s not even a fair fight with Intel anymore. How can Intel turn this around, and can AMD keep it going?

So this means my Supermicro board with a 32MB SPI ROM should be forwards compatible with 3rd gen EPYC?

Well, I know what my upgrade path's gonna be. :3

Ah.  That I got.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Whoever wrote this has read one too many press releases.

Company being 'really proud of' [ X ] or 'laser focused on' [one of the many aspects of X they're highlighting] is ludicrous marketting BS that does not bear repeating.

You have a point. Talking points in sponsored videos happen.  I filter them out and if nore them.  It’s actually sort of handy that they generally use marketing speak because it makes them easier to filter out.

@GabenJr , does LMG have a single person who's well versed in high performance computing and low level software development? I usually enjoy the content greatly but I have to say, you get so many things wrong especially when trying to speak about hardware internals and low level topics. Just an example from this video, Linus stated re: Zen 3 Epyc: "They have 4 more table walkers which means that heavy database workloads that rely on lookup tables will be significantly faster", which is an absolutely ridiculous statement! Table walkers have nothing to do with database workloads or lookup tables, they have to do with page table walking and memory translation from virtual to physical, and more table walkers would speed up virtual-to-physical translation (especially for virtualization where the overhead of this translation is doubled due to NPT), not speed up "lookup tables!" The gains from this applies universally, not to lookup table workloads!

Please, just hire someone who is knowledgeable about this so I don't have to cringe every time I see things like this.

They’ve already got more employees than most YouTube channels.  Complaining vociferously when something wrong is said may be the most useful thing for now.  As a mere user of the website I rely on others here to tell me when I’ve screwed up. Seems to be happening less lately.  I doubt it’s because I screw up less though it’s possible.  Others just might have gotten tired of bothering to correct me 😕

Yep, add anandtech to that list, these 3 are generally speaking the only hardware oriented content creators/sites I'm aware of who have a solid grasp of low level topics.

Edit: though anandtech is not a youtube channel I guess, but I prefer reading over watching anyways.
