Can i buy a 3060 and still run my 1030 in the x4 slot

The 1030's 2gb of vram isn't really cutting it, I don't really need the 1030 if i buy the 3060 (depending availability), I just don't want it to sit and do nothing, if I can I'm gonna use the 3060 for nvenc and gaming, and the 1030 for YouTube watching and coding.  When I upgrade to a dual monitor setup than both cards will be used for graphics (gaming and stream manager) on dual monitor (if it works).

You don't need to. YouTube hardly takes any resources. You'll probably have more issues from having both cards installed.

TECHNICALLY yes. But you will have to dedicate 1 monitor to each GPU and thats just not really a good idea, so I really dont suggest it. And as Dizmo says its very possible you may run into more issues having it in the system

On the contrary, I've run two GPUs (one monitor plugged into each) and had no issues at all.

What GPUs did you use? In my experience, similarly performing GPUs are fine, but those with a big performance gap do have some problems, not serious problems but small graphical glitches here and there.

Ah I see. I ran two high end GPUs, so I guess that's why I didn't have any issues.

Thought so. If we were talking about like a 2060 and a 3060 then it would probably be fine, but the problem here is that he wants to use a GT1030 with a 3060.

At that point you'd just be wasting the 1030 with it in your system. It'll be using power, creating heat, and taking up an expansion slot, and YouTube isn't a hard task at all. You should be perfectly fine to run both monitors from one card.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2
