How to change the load of the GPU while mining?

Hi! I recently got into mining with NiceHash, using my 3060 Ti.

 

I hate seeing that 100% load on my GPU, because I know it lessens the performance of the GPU over time.

 

I know it will lower my mining rates, but I'm willing to do that if it means my GPU will stay at it's original glory for longer.

 

Is there any way to lower the GPU load to around %50-%60 while mining?

That's what I heard, and it makes sense, 100% all the time? How would that not lessen performance?

 

Also MSI afterburner is for overclocking and changing fan speed. I don't think that I would be able to change the load for mining in MSI afterburner. I would have though that it would do something on NiceHash

MSI afterburner isnt just for overclocking. Its for controlling speeds of GPU and RAM and also controll voltages.
Yes you can use that to overclock but thats not all. Ever heard of underclocking?

I'm not aware of mining at anything less than 100%. That wouldn't make sense. What you can do is use Afterburner to lower the power limit, core/memory clock or both to effectively not make it work as hard, but the card will stay at 100%. You're just changing what that 100% is.

You're assuming there are aspects of the GPU that will wear out, hence the lessening.  It's logical given that most things in life lessen over years of use, but I haven't seen it in my 1080Ti that I mined with and still game with (which results in a very high load % too).

 

Making sense and actually happening are different, and I wouldn';t just assume it's the case.  GPU's are meant to run hard and hot, its what they do while gaming as well as mining.

Use the tools to keep core and memory temperatures (especially the latter in case of the 3000 series as it runs rather hot to my knowledge) in check. Computer parts are made to, well, compute, but heat does pose a threat and will in practical terms be the main "killer". Whether it's mining or gaming you'll want to avoid roasting it, but other than that they're both just load scenarios for the GPU.

I would still advice going into MSI Afterburner and turning down some settings like mentioned earlier.

It will still have 100% load but wont use 100% of the capacity.
