Yamaha MX10xu = USB Output is different to the Mixer

So I recently bought together a Shure sm7b + Cloudlifter CL1 
and so I got them both connected to the Mixer and now I am having an odd problem. 

This problem is somehow common upon MG users:

Increase gain digitally (in the programs you record with), ezpz.
Why did you buy a mixer? if you're just trying to get a mic into your PC you should be using an audio interface but somehow no matter how much we say it people keep buying mixers.....

I had the mixer for a good 4+ years now xD
its a decent board. I like to have dials / EQ that I can physically control live instead of using Softwares.

and that I have purchased 3 different Audio interfaces in the past 6 years. Each with their own flaws and it bothered me to no end..

. I am using Adobe audition to run my audio through it. So I'll try to see what I can do with it.

Generally I find most USB mixers have bigger flaws than a half-decent audio interface.

 

Don't get me wrong, I love a good analog console, but if you find a good console for cheap, it's probably because it needs work, and mixing consoles are an enormous pain to work on.

 

Now I can agree that having a hardware EQ is nice, but the EQ in most cheap consoles is pretty lousy. That said, most people who buy a cheap mixer because it has an EQ end up making using it to make things worse rather than better. As a hint, usually if you find yourself making drastic changes with the EQ, then you've got other problems that you need to fix- usually with mic placement or acoustics. EQ is not a magic bullet and most of the time, flat (or relatively flat) is best, though a low-cut is often a good idea for speech. If your room is really awful and you can't do anything about the acoustics, buying a console with an EQ is not the solution. There are other things that will help a whole lot more (a really good headset microphone will help a lot here)

 

Where I do find drastic EQ to be useful is in amateur radio when the band conditions are poor. Incidentally, some video conferencing applications with really poor audio fidelity can benefit from a similar EQ curve. This is NOT to make it sound better- it's to make otherwise unintelligible speech slightly more understandable.
