My rx580 just stopped working!

Sy1223

So before I cleaned my rx580 it was working just fine but as soon as I cleaned it with compressed air I would start a game and it would crash after awhile but it never did that before I tried unplugging the pcu cords and replugging them back in but nada so I said screw it let’s trouble test it and now it won’t turn on my graphics card fans arnt spinning so is there a way to fix this?

and when I mean crash I mean black screen until I had to hard reboot

Did you remove the cooler for cleaning? maybe you forgot to plug the fan cables back in?

Not spinning fans is probably the cause of crashes, as heat ramps during game start

NEVER use compressed air for cleaning, you will end up sticking the dust inside

Much better a hoover

Now is not even booting?

The cables are stuck in the power supply

Are the graphic fans spinnning?

Not when it crashes but before yes I just took it out and put my 1030 in to try to see if it’s the card or if it’s something else

so it booted right up with the 1030 and I’m going to run a game and see what happens

Definitively a graph fans problem then...

the 1030 will work just fine (and slow)

I’ve had this 1030 for like 4 years I got it new so I hope it lasts me until I can buy a new gpu but I don’t think it’s the fans I really want to know what’s wrong with it and it sucks that idk

Find some replacement fan or take 2 standard 9" fans and fix it SOMEHOW to the card in an artistic way...

Crashes mean that the game kicks you to desktop or that the pc reboots?

UPDATE!

so now everything runs fine It took me 3-4 hours with trial and error and I took my graphics card out put in my old one installed and deleted the drivers then took that out and put my old one in and boom runs fine the only thing I worry about is the fan getting really loud and a smell that’s like metal or something ( I had the same smell in my older computer when I got it brand new so I don’t think that’s anything to worry about) I just wanna make sure I shouldn’t be too worried
