I have a question about installing a 2nd m.2 nvme storage device.

TeddyStark45

So I am going to have 2 m.2 drives. One for windows and another one for my games. But I want to know, am I able to simply just put the second m.2 in the bottom m.2 slot of my motherboard and it works with the same speed as the top m.2 like plug and play or will the speed be decreased or something like that. Or will I have to install something. Thanks

If the motherboard is B550 or lower, then the second slot will only be PCIe gen 3. This won't matter unless you have gen 4 drives in which case it could decrease the performance.

The more I learn, the more I realise I don't actually know anything.

Recommendations: Lian Li 205m (sleek, pretty decent airflow for a non-mesh front panel and cheap), i5-10400f (Ryzen 5 3600 performance, 20% cheaper), Arctic P14 PWM fans, Logitech g305.

Read your motherboard manual to see what goes on when the slots are populated.

Often it takes away a sata port or two. If you are not using them then it’s OK

i5 8600 - RX580 - Fractal Nano S - 1080p 144Hz
