there is plenty of games that can run more or less fine even igpu from laptop. if they cant participate because they dont have any pc at the time is hard to clasify them as gamers. and as you say game selected wont be for everyone taste and skill but that would eliminate any doubt about scalpers or bots rushing out stock. yes it much more work but at least VERIFIED GAMERS get some meaning

Man some salty people in here. Take it from me I have the 3090's and 3080's it's not mind blowing. It is not an essential thing to have and it's not life or death. You'll get one if you wait 6-12 months. For now plenty of iGPUS can game. Plenty of older cards on craigslist and ebay if you hunt.

In response to everyone else, we know the communication wasn't perfect - some of that was because things kept changing so it got easier to say nothing than to keep saying things and correcting them - and part of it was to avoid a mad rush to get the ~100 GPUs we had. We didn't WANT every single one of our 13M subscribers to try to hit the store at the same time...

 

We're doing our best and we'll keep trying to improve. The drops will continue to be announced in the daily LTT video though for the time being.

Just a question, but when the graphics card are ready, for the program, will you offer some lower end stuff? Such as GTX 1660 SUPER or like RTX 2060?

Question!  Is the video going to be on Linus Tech Tips main channel?  Or could it be on any of their sub channels?  Just want to make sure I'm checking the correct youtube channel to be quicker for the next video.

You still haven't said how you plan to arrange a tournament with potentially millions of participants.

 

Scheduling that would be impossible and keeping track of every single game and players wins and loses would require an amount of work no where near proportional to the prize of 100 GPUs

Yes, videos were edited/replaced with ones only mentioning the program being a thing. Links were still active yesterday, only going to splash screen. You can find links, screenshots etc. in this thread (from page 14 onwards).

Can you link to threads you are talking about? I don't see point of not sharing. I don't believe LMG to be so stupid they would recycle questions. And the end page was with temp url. Plus that the short url was part of the quiz.

Huh? The video posting time is actually better for people in Europe and east from there. Since its posted at early evening, 17-19 UTC. So there's no reason why you wouldn't qualify. There are plenty of reasons why you wouldn't want to participate, starting from shipping charge and import fees.

The hardware comes directly from manufacturers. They don't have discontinued products stored anywhere. LMG is not selling their own warehouse stuff.

I'm pretty sure that was the intention of this whole thing. If you don't have dedication, you don't get what you want. This same principle works with many other things. Its also why in old days people were camping for event tickets, games and hardware in front of the stores. You either have dedication to get limited runs of something, or you don't. And if you don't have dedication, you really shouldn't whine about it.

Considering the point is to root out any bots and people who only buy to sell with profit? Having just link would give advantage to bots by default. Having better information about what to expect too. I don't know what way to quiz page was made, but if the questions were in text form, that also would have given advantage to bots (and at the same time be more accessible).

Unlikely. That would give unfair advantage for those who aren't real gamers, but have intentions to use opportunity. Besides that, this quiz was very much focused on older games, some of which some younger people have never heard of. Like knowing what game KOTOR is talking about.

Hoping those AMD cards come in soon! I tried out the quiz to see whats up even though I'm not after one of the RTX cards, I thought it was a little tough but fair. Many of the answers to questions about games a bit before my time I knew because they are part of the gamer culture. Really wish the Americans that complain would stop so we can stop getting dunked on in videos.

I race in ACC and iRacing online leagues and I practice almost every single night in my sim rig. Let's choose on of these. How about StarCraft 2 or Civ6? I played a lot of PUBG, but less than 5 hours in Fortnite, because I hate the graphics and art design. 

 

What would be the ONE game that everyone could agree would be a fair choice for this tournament? Rocket League? Among Us?

True. Maybe so many per hour for 24 hours? Or some kind of quiz then lottery system with X number of quiz winners entered for a chance? It's still very tilted to the fastest fingers but that's ok. It's still getting cards to gamers. Real gamers. I'm old and only casually game when I have free time. Do I want a new card, yes. Do I NEED it? No, I'm ok. I just have the disposable income to afford it right now. It would let me make some more income by mining the dip or let me reallocate the current card to mining the dip. Nothing can be fair to everyone and I pretty much knew us AFKers who work 9-5 would be out of the running, but we're not really the target audience I guess.
