Ram issue, I’m not sure. Would like some help

I got a asus prime z390-a mother board. Supports up to 64gb of ram, have 4 slots for ram. Now, I just bought more ram which is Corsair vengeance rgb pro. I got 4x16 gb so 64 gb total. I put the 4 ram in and my pc and booted the pc BUT after about a second or 2 it shuts off and will boot up again. About 3 times and then go into the bios screen.

So just to test things up, I took 2 sticks of ram out so 2x16gb leaving 32gb (obvious math lol, just being descriptive). I took out slots 1 and 3 and left 2 and 4 and NOW the pc boots perfectly fine. So my concern is, is it too much ram or could it be a motherboard issue? Bios says it supports it, even shows on screen but what’s with the pc boot loop going into bios screen? Im New to pc still trying to understand everything. Thank you for the help!

Hi buddy,

Firstly, make sure your BIOS us up to date as that would normally rule out any memory compatibility issues.

Secondly, If the system posts with slots 2 and 4 have you tried the other 2 modules in the same slots and see if that works also what happens if you use slots 1 and 3? At this stage all you are trying to verify is all slots and modules work (at least individually or in sets of 2)

If you manage to ascertain that all slots are working as they should and all modules are good, then maybe its something to do with the ram speed. Try underclocking the ram to base values if its not already set. Try 2133Mhz or even less.

Thanks for responding so fast. For Starters, Bios is up to date. I actually just tried slots 1 and 3 and it’s doing that pc loop reboot. So I’m guessing it’s the slots?
