Replacement 8 pin to 8 pin male GPU connector

Hi guys 

 

I have a RTX 3060 which requires a 8 pin + 6 pin connector which my power supply has. I recently upgraded to a RTX 3070 and this requires 2x 8 pin to 8 pin male connectors. Unfortunately my power supply only has one 8 pin to 8 pin connector. I have a EVGA 650W Supernova G2.

 

I've done some research on this forum and some people have said not using the specific cables for your power supply for the graphics card could end very badly. I've found this listing on eBay for a EVGA 8 pin to 6+2 pin cable, could I just buy two of these and use them to power my 3070? I'm from the UK and I looked on the EVGA site but can't find anywhere for replacement cables.

 

I'm really surprised the G2 only comes with one 8 pin to 6+2 pin as I bought it brand new a few years ago. 

 

What would my options be here? In the meantime, I have took the 3070 out and I'm using the 3060 again until I can get the right cables or would I have to buy a brand new power supply

The G2 650W should have two PCIe cables included, each with two PCIe connectors. Are you sure you don't have them?

Yes I'm 100% positive, I only have one PCIe cable here...

I own a EVGA G2 650W myself.

It *should* have 2x cables where it 8-pin to the PSU end, and 6+2 and 6 - pin to the GPU end.

If you lost the second cable, then you would want to get a replacement.

 

The PCI-E power cables from my G3 and P2 are not thin like on the eBay ad.

They should be thicker and sleeved.

 

From what I can find, that thin EVGA branded PCI-E cable belongs to EVGA GQ model PSUs.

You DO NOT want to use GQ cables on G2 / G3 / G5 / P2 / T2 power supply.

 

The proper cable should look like one of these:

Those are a bit questionable...but I would go for the 1st ad over the 2nd ad.

Corsair uses a different pin layout than EVGA, so I don't know why the 2nd ad says "EVGA SilverStone CoolerMaster SeaSonic Corsair"

Thank you, I have ordered the second one. Fingers crossed it's the right one, if not I think i'll just have to buy a brand new power supply...

Did you order the 1ST ONE....which is the all-black cable.

Or did you order the sketchy 2ND ONE...which is the red / black cable.
