32gb of RAM enough?

Spudwell06

I am going to be using the unreal engine 4 soon(ish)

later this year i am getting a PC upgrade

Will 32gb be enough or should i get 64gb

I have 16gb at the moment (fine for my uses at the moment)

The Epic survey says that their average programmer has 64gb

i was thinking for 32gb https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/WXmFf7/corsair-vengeance-rgb-pro-sl-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-memory-cmh32gx4m2z3200c16

and

for 64gb https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/gRMTwP/gskill-trident-z-rgb-64-gb-2-x-32-gb-ddr4-3600-memory-f4-3600c18d-64gtzr

Thanks for your time

PS: i will have chrome open

One guy I know has 24gigs and says it's plenty.

Unrelated, does he use 3 * 8gb or 6 * 4gb

Is it a weird triple channel or something

I know a few proper developers that make games full of assets and complicated codes and not one of them has 64 gigs of RAM or even 32. One guy I know has 24gigs and says it's plenty.

I would also add it really depends on who you're working for and what you're doing. I know a few of devs where their systems are pretty average gaming computers then I also know a few where they kinda went ham on everything.

My work laptop for the longest time had 16GB of RAM and this was fine until i started running mongoDB replica sets (it will eat as much RAM as it can take), so 16GB is probably fine, that said i have 64GB now and i wouldn't go back 😆
