It sounds like a) Your headset is too loud/mic volume is too loud or b) your microphone is being grouped together with your desktop sound like an OBS recording. If you use any fancy mic effects through OBS or similar applications, it could be that.

Also, if your headphones are open back and it's a little loud, they could possibly be hearing the sound leaking from the headphones.

I may be stupid, but at least I'm not an idiot.

This only happens in fortnite so far, when I play music in the background my friends will hear it, is this a pc problem or a headset problem

So do you voice chat in Fornite or another application? And it only happens in Fortnite? What about other games?

I voice chat in fortnite, I don’t know about any others game as I only have fortnite installed. But when I talk in fortnite my friends can hear themselves but when I talk in discord my friends don’t hear themselves so I can’t really tell if this is just fortnite

It sounds like it has something to do with Fortnite. If it doesn't happen in Discord, then I think your mic settings in Fortnite have messed something up. If it doesn't appear to be fixed after changing Fortnite mic settings, I would reinstall it.

Hmm. Well I don't think it has to do with your mic, I think it is solely Fortnite since it doesn't happen in Discord. Unfortunately I don't play Fortnite so I couldn't tell you what settings to change, though I'd look in the audio tab.

I don't think that they are related to your problem because Discord is fine.

I don’t know what else to do, I tried copying my friends fortnite audio settings and it’s still persisting

I really don't know either. If you can, I would just voice chat in Discord.

I know that when I last used my headset I had this problem but it was at all times.  My problem was that headsets share a ground on headphone and mic and you can get talkback between the two.

I think I figured how to fix this.

Step 1: Go to Control Panel.
Step 2: Hardware and Sound.
Step 3: Click Sound.
Step 4: Click Recording tab.
Step 5: Look for 'Stereo Mix' (this will be disabled).
Step 6: Right Click 'Stereo Mix' and enable it.
Step 7: Click apply.

Hope this Helps
