Anyone know how to trickle charge a modern usb-c device like Linus does with his Note 9?

In the note 20 review video Linus talks about how he's kept his Note's battery healthy by trickle charging the phone which I'd like to do with my new note 20 ultra as I plan to keep it quite a long time.

The problem is that I couldn't find a USB 2.0 power brick. Apparently if charge over USB 2.0 you can get 5V @ 0.5A or 2.5W. I'm assuming I can just use a A to C cable on an old laptop to achieve this rate? But that seems rather inconvenient.

But that appears to be the lowest rate at which you can charge a phone. However on Amazon the lowest rate charger I could find is 5V 1A https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RZ4765V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

Does anyone know a wall charger that only spits out .5A? I'm wondering if the Note 20 would even charge at that rate... It might be overkill as the 5V 1A charger on Amazon is still only 5 watts which is significantly lower than the 25W which the Note 20 ultra's max rate.

5V 1A is basically trickle charging by today's phone standards. Half an amp is going to take hours to charge a phone. Personally if you are concerned about battery health I would see if it has the option like iPhones where it quick charges to 80% then trickle charges the last 20% as this isn't nearly as hard on batteries.

Just keeping this here as a I'm wondering if the new note has that feature as well as I'm sure that would help overall battery life as well.

I think trickle charging at .5A won't really get you that much more lifespan opposed to charging at 1A if the battery can take up to 20W quick charging. Batteries are also a relatively inexpensive part to replace on phones.

Right the phone is brand new so I'm trying to take care of it properly from day 1.

Incidentally the phone said it would take about 50 minutes to charge from 60% to 100% at 1A.

I managed to find an old thinkpad laying around and I plugged it directly into the USB 2.0 port and it said it would take 3 hours to reach full. A much better trickle charge number. Not only does the trickle charging keep the temp low but more importantly the slow rate of charge keeps it from being pinned at 100% all night long.
