  • reate high-performance storage with configurable RAID by installing two M.2 SATA SSDs into a 2.5” SATA interface
  • Dual-Slot M.2 to SATA Adapter supports multiple RAID modes: RAID 0 / RAID 1 or spanning or JBOD
  • Supports B key M.2 SATA SSDs including full-length M.2 SSD drives (2230 / 2242 / 2260 / 2280) (Not compatible with M.2 NVMe or AHCI PCI-Express SSDs)
  • TRIM support to enhance the stability and performance of your M.2 SSDs plus provides SMART support

It doesn't say it support NVME drives, only m.2 SATA drive.

Yes it will support RAID 1, 0 or JBOB.

Can 2 drives deliver over a same sata port, so basically can you daisy chain your drives. I want to replace the 500g SSD in my laptop with an adapter that converts 2 nvme drives to a single sata port... Will they recognize as 2 drives or just 1 RAID volume?

NVME uses a different protocol so I am not sure how that adapter is supposed to work.

It's like combining two i3-s to make an i9.

Or in this case vice versa, if I read correctly.

No adapters for those tasks...

I edit my posts more often than not

No. You can’t plug an NVMe drive into a sata port regardless, unless whatever adapter you find has “smarts” in it that can do that translation real time - I highly doubt that exists.

Regardless, no, you can’t plug multiple drives into a SATA port like this. SAS ports, yes, SATA ports no.

nvme requires pci-e, so no, cannot be done.

Single m2-sata is possible.

Port multipliers do exist for sata, but they require support from host controller and consumer hardware that's far from guaranteed.

This could work in one of raid modes, or might require port multiplier support anyway. Have to make sure before buying.

Using 2 drives without raid will 100% require port multiplier support, and if using with raid... why not just buy 1 large sata ssd? Up to 8TB is easily available.

well the problem is I want a cheap 2 drive solution. Was thinking of 2 4tb m.2 or nvme

I'm 100% sure it will run at a single sata drive, if OP expect to have nvme performance, no way.

Looking at the picture, looks like the raid is working internally, like a nas.

again that unit cannot support NVME drive only M.2 SATA.

i highly recommend just buy one sata drive.

Yeah, in such case it'll work, just have to be sure that it is really the case before buying. It might also be semi-software solution which requires all drives to be visible to host pc.

Why?

nvme is impossible.

m.2-sata may work, but only as a "single drive" in raid with performance still limited by single sata port and may be the controller - who knows how fast it is?

Single sata ssd will be better.

Also - use USB? If you have usb3 it will be close to sata speeds and will not require messing with single available sata port.
