Which 1440p, 144Hz+ monitor should I buy?

Hi everyone,

I have upgraded my system and I am now looking for a 1440p, high refresh rate gaming monitor.

I have found 8 options that are around my budget of £300. I have put some selected specs below (hopefully the table formats correctly!)

A Google Sheet comparing the options is here in case the table does not format correctly.

Which monitor should I go for? I'm not an expert (clearly!) so any guidance would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Do any of them offer adaptive sync (Freesync or G-Sync)? That may be another point of comparison if you haven't considered that. The response time and contrast ratios are typically more marketing BS then actual performance metrics, so I'd take those with a grain of salt.

Of the bunch I'd personally lean towards the Acer XV272U since it's the only IPS panel and that panel type tends to be my preference all other things being equal. It's also the brightest which may or may not be advantageous to you depending on ambient light in your room.

It may help to look up some of them on rtings.com for detailed performance reviews provided they've covered them. I love that site for objective monitor/TV reviews.

Also, thank you for actually doing some research and presenting it in a way that's helpful 🙂

Ah yes I completely forgot about adaptive sync - my current 1080p monitor is the first time I've encountered it and I was amazed at the difference it made!

Thanks for your suggestions - I'll go away and look at rtings.com.

I was also leaning towards the Acer and the IPS panel - I gather that I should only really go for TN if I'm really budget conscious....

Or if response time is your primary concern, such as for competitive gaming.
