Mid-week Madness Folding Sprint

Just pulled the card out, as it's been sitting powered on in my system. Something to note, the whole card itself is warm. Like as if the GPU was initialized. I'll see if I can do some probing tomorrow. I'll need to find the rails and check the voltage on both the vcore and vmem. I'm not sure if the card is stuck in safe mode, either.

Keep digging. Good luck.

Thanks. I'm confident that this card can be fixed. The GPU itself doesn't seem to be faulty. My test system got stuck on code 64.But the system was responding when I was pressing F2.

same here Rx580, 2060, 2060ko all have to go and will get a 3080 at lest to replace those 3 if not 2x3080s

big tech hug.  best time to sell . get a better card for folding/boinc. also uses less power!

With respect, many of you have far more experience than I do in this space. F@H is a bit newer to me than most of what I do in the computer space. Onto the subject, with my new 3090fe running flat out OC'ed but on stock voltage I am seeing a bigger uplift than I was expecting. I was expecting about a 4M PPD jump between a 3060 and the 3090, it is closer to 4.8M PPD. I didn't have the 3060 for very long, maybe I just never got that tuned in, but the point jump between the two cards I wasn't thinking would be that large. I know work units move around in points etc. so maybe I have a tilted view point at the moment. I am just wondering if I might be able to hit 13M PPD off the three cards, I am hovering fairly close right now.

Short of flipping to Linux, which I can't do for most of the work loads the machine was built for, what else can I do to squish more points out of the tube? Thank you for indulging questions such as this, I sat on the sidelines folding for a full year before joining this as my first sprint. On that note mad props to all of the people that have been at this for years. I realize I have come in fairly late, been posting a fair amount and at some point I do feel bad for basically tossing money at this, but we are all on the same team towards the same goal. So thank you, is there anything more I can do to help team 223518?

Just an update to my 2070. I have progress.

Watching a youtube video,

I did a test on the 2070. Sure enough, one of the memory modules is dead. I did managed to reflash the bios, with no effect.

Now I know where to start my diagnostics. First of all is finding that memory module and see if it's getting power.

Edit:

More info, https://www.cryptoprofi.info/?p=7466

I'm after one of these. It's Micron GDDR6 20210327_093009.thumb.jpg.a29c82e13923a40ed45cd78d004566f8.jpg

Edit #2

Memory module is MT61K256M32JE-14

Edit#3

2070 won't be competing this event, as the new memory module won't be delivered on time 😞

Curse you, @cbigfoot

Don't feel bad for "tossing money at this." We all have put time and money into folding at some point... or continue to do so. We're glad to have you aboard. We and the scientific community at large are glad you chose to put your resources toward this endeavor.

Welcome to the fold.

i just had the great idea of doing a sudo apt-get upgrade on my main F@H machine to prepare for the sprint.

all Nvidia drivers broke. In the end i had to reinstall everything and even edit the F@H config file because it wouldn't detect my GPU's anymore.

i still havn't gotten the Grid k2 up either, just the 2080ti running now.

yay Linux!

And to think, all I want to do is sell my AMD R9 280, buy a second hand 960/970 and run it on linux for a bump 🤣

once it's running it's rock solid. just make sure to never touch it again and it will keep running fine for years!

That's honestly the part I can't wait for. I tried for a long time to get the Radeon to work on Linux but just gave up after getting NO points. I just run an unauthorized install of Windows and take the hit. I'm waiting on some replacement fans to arrive tomorrow so it doesn't have to look like something out of a steampunk fan's dreams.

There is hope that my 2070 might be working next week, mid event.

I'll get my GPU's folding tomorrow before I goto work. They did well, covering 10% of the total cost of my system in mining.

That sounds great. And a place to send the old chips out to "the farm."

Who remembers this? Well, I've found the short.

Problem is, the card is not been detected. 0.8 volts measured on the core, 1.8 volts on the bios. 3.3 volts is present, fan is spinning, and the mosfets were getting warm.  Any ideas?
