It holds, 1-3 hours each WU as I tested before. It's as fast as a desktop GT 1030 as I know, at least it's still better than CPU and Intel Graphics folding. Thanks for the info again.

Ups dropped off the 3090 today, I need to water block it to make it smaller to fit in the case. 3090fe on an itx board is clown shoes. But at the moment the 3090 will fold some protein like a hack sitting a foot out of the case, balanced on top of a corsair radiator, and an ifixit kit... Just don't judge the fitment with the shirt unbuttoned and the water cooling soft and hard tube mix to get it running while I wait for the corsair block.

after the folding event i may sell my 2060s and rx580 for a nice profit lol they gone nuts lol use them to pay for my 3070 and more...

PSA to everyone, sorry I've not been around much. Some things have come up IRL that are taking more of my time than expected. But the event will go a head as planned. I took a day of streaming today to try to get everything in order to make sure I'm all set for the event. I will be validating any un-validated entries tonight and hopefully that will be done in the next 24 hours. 

 

I'll then get a blog post up with a list of entries so you can check if everything is all good to go on our end.

Ok I think I am ready for this event. This will be my first since joining a year ago at covid break. I put in the new card yesterday and it's doing pretty well. My 24 hour average is wonky but where things are trending is nice. Let's fold all of the stuff

my 2080 super on windows is just as fast as one on Linux ... but only when I'm watching Netflix for some reason

 

it drops to somewhere around 2.9ppd  to 3.2ppd when the computers idle, I have no idea why but it's consistent

Agree. Although I've seen them offered for even more than that... which is INSANE. S&D though I guess, eh? If I could find a set of replacement fans for my old R9 280, I'd probably just sell that and put it toward something a little newer. I haven't found any MSI Twin Frozr replacements however that were didn't seem sketch AF.

I don't. That thing is off doing what it was purchased for. I also am only interested in a founder's 3070 to replace the 2070 in my S1 build, and those are pretty extinct.

i got a FTW 3070 incoming and i paid UNDER retail for it lol...for some reason they honored the price from when i reserved it...i would have paid the current MSRP thou but not complaining lol. i thought about scalping it but i will likely scalp my RX580 and 2x 2060s to get 2x 3080s when my numbers come up there.

I woke up at 4am last night and couldn't get back to sleep, so I went online and got lucky, found Asrock Radeon RX 6800 XT Taichi X OC in stock at retail, so I grabbed it.

 

I have a few older gpu's that I don't use and don't make much sense to fold on so I decided to flip them on ebay, 2x 1050, 1060, RX 460 and a 5700xt. I didn't think I would run into any issues selling these cards, but it seems someone doesn't like me selling my 5700 xt because they placed malicious bids on it. I stated on listing that it was purchased in 2019 and that I would provide the original receipt so the purchaser could get a few months warranty, I guess he thought I was crystal ball scalping . The malicious bids were easily fixed, so no harm done.

If they are used, and have been used for a few months then I wouldn't consider it scalping.

 

Private sellers aren't the cause or responsible for the current gpu market situation, nor are they forcing people to spend exorbitant amounts.

yep Rx580 was bought well at beginning of covid along with both RX2060 cards.

I really should retire the two 1070ti's and get something more Foldable, but I just cant get anything. 

 

It's sad because almost any meaningful upgrade for my 1070ti's (Turing or Ampere) would also be a better gaming card than my 1080ti FTW3 in my main pc..... BUT I NEED TO FOLD.

I'm in a similar boat but with my even older R9 280. LOL. That card is just getting to be too much trouble to keep folding.
