um no. its default is set to any. i install this on multi pc.   it does not pic 1 type of wu by default. it has always been any by default. user can choose different project thru.

I've removed the suspected dead memory module, and checked every pad (Yes, all 180 of them), and nothing is obvious. It looks like the memory module was dead. Paths to power, ground and to the GPU itself are good.

You really can't check those without getting a big iron tester.  I suggest an Advantest 5503HS2 or a Teradyne Magnum EPIC. 🙂

 

Seriously though, there are a lot of signals that need to be driven at once to test the functionality of the part.  There are also preamble setups that need to be done to make the part function correctly.

Advanced memory testing would be conclusive, but it's beyond any repairable budget. Checking the resistance of each pad would give an idea of the condition of the connections. within the board. For example, the condition of the memory controller, power and grounds.

 

As with my probing, there are no broken grounds or supplies. All of the data lines (32) have the same resistance, suggesting the memory controller is good. Reason been, is that all data bits failed on mats/mods for this one module. it's unlikely that all the data lines to the GPU would be dead, and that the memory chip itself has internally failed (Noted by a white mark on the original chip).

 

During power on, I did measure 1.35 volts on the back of the card, on the capacitors behind the memory. All is good.

 

Replacing the memory chip is the best solution, that's within budget, as the module is getting power, and no data lines are dead.
