Edit: Btw I agree with @mariushm

I was playing Valorant and my CPU was getting very hot (80⁰c and hottest 85) and got this sizzle noise. I felt my glass panel and was very hot - burning. I went to exit the game but before I could my whole PC shutdown and restarted .It's not my PSU nor gpu any reasons why this is happening? Should I get a new cpu cooler?

What are your full system specifications??? When was the last time you repasted your CPU or give your computer a cleaning (not saying your dirty or anything, just cleaning out the dust inside)???

80-85c is a high temperature for a CPU, but not super high, not critical. At around 90c the CPU would throttle itself (reduce the core frequencies or even shut down cores in order to consume less power and therefore produce less heat) and eventually at around 95-100c it would shut down itself.

If the cpu was 80-85c the fins of the heatsink would be a much lower temperature, let's say around 60-70 c and if the fans in your computer are working, the internals of the case should only be a bit warm, you would not have a glass panel that was very hot, burning.

So it makes me think that maybe the fan on your cpu cooler seized (not spinning) and probably you don't have other fans moving air through the case, so eventually the heat from the cpu heatsink just got all the air inside the case very hot.

Something then shut down to protect itself, the "over temperature protection" kicked in.

Let the pc cool, then start your computer with the panel removed and visually check all your fans and make sure they're spinning.

if the cpu is still hot, I'd shut down the pc and make sure the cooler is properly mounted on the cpu, sometimes screws can become loose or clips can break and the cpu cooler isn't pressed tightly down on the cpu anymore.

My specs aren't so great but it is a Ryzen 3 3200g, Asus A320m-k motherboard, RX 580 8GB Dual, 16GB RAM, 600W PSU, 1TB HDD. Last time I gave it a clean was about 5 months ago

Ok thanks for the help I'll have a look into it and get back to you! Many thanks!
