Why my 3.1 GHz procesor is 4.1GHz? i5-8600 not overclocked

Go to solution Solved by ProjectBox153,

That's Turbo Boost. If thermals allow for it the CPU will boost above the base speed for a bit. It's completely normal.

Hi my intel i5-8600 is not overclocked but is working 1GHz faster than it should be. It is not a problem but im just curious why,

I still have not got my 8600 to 4.3

4.1 is the best it seems to get for me. Maybe a setting I have missed somewhere?

The max turbo frequency refers to the maximum clock the CPU will reach on one core, so if you had a really intensive single core workload then it would turbo up to 4.3ghz. I've found that the 8600 and 8600k alike will turbo up to about 4.1ghz on all cores with no overclock.

On the non K CPUs, you need to have the core C3, C6 or C7 state enabled in the BIOS so the CPU can access the highest multiplier.

Yes probably, the all core boost is 4.1 so it is probably related to that
