Replacing laptop keyboard with one of a different layout

Should work fine. Did it multiple times ages ago with my asus k53s. It's basically the same keyboard but the keycaps are on different places and you tell Windows what layout it is. You can also use your current keyboard on the us layout if you can type blind. If you replace it, make sure it is compatible with your laptop.

I live in France and I want to buy a new laptop, but the issue is, I usually type on qwerty for the compatibility with microsoft IME for japanese and chinese. I can't find a single qwerty laptop that fits my specs and isn't overly priced so I was thinking of buying a spare qwerty keyboard and dismantling the pc to replace the factory one. Would that cause any sort of hardware incompability or software issue (pc is going to run windows 10 pro)? Thanks in advance for any answer!

as long as you can actually source a replacement keyboard for the laptop, there's usually no problem in doing so.
