Upward-moving, flickering pink lines on laptop display

Hi all, my laptop (Asus ROG Strix GL502VS 2016 w/ GTX1070) suddenly started displaying this behaviour on screen. Funny enough, this only started yesterday, while updating to the latest Nvidia gaming drivers (461.72 - 25/02/2021). I have also tried the studio drivers (same version), and the same happens.

So it first happened as I was updating the driver, restarted and it still happened, turned the display off/on and it stopped. Then anytime I restart the laptop it starts again until I turn the display off/on. I have an additional monitor connected to the laptop and it isn't affected by any of this while the laptop screen is flickering. The artifact starts at the bottom and increases in size, as per the images, and it takes about 2 seconds to reach the level of the 3rd image and then it repeats. Also, there is the light grey bar the base, under the task bar, which constantly flickers until the screen is reset.

 

Laptop is running Win10 20H2, all updates to date. Latest Nvidia drivers (461.72).

 

Any ideas as to why this started?
