Lenovo Legion 5 or a Nice PC and small Laptop?

L0lig1

Budget (including currency): 1100€ or 800+300€

Country: Austria

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Video editing, games, coding

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Upgrading from a Toshiba Satellite L775-s7355 laptop

I will start my uni studies for the computer science bachelor and I need an upgrade. I need a laptop for Uni, but something that is good enough for other things like video editing and gaming (like the Lenovo Legion 5 with R7-4800H and GTX 1660ti). But I also have the idea of building a PC and getting a "does the basics" laptop. Thing is I'm still totally inexperienced when it comes to coding, algorithms and stuff so I don't even know if a "does the basics" laptop would handle that kind of workload.

So the question: Do I just buy a Lenovo Legion 5 with the specs mentioned or build a decent PC for 800€ and get a laptop for 300€ for uni purposes?
