Driver Installation Errors with Windows 7 for my GPU

I have both an ATi HD 4670 AGP and an ATi HD 3850 AGP and both give me this error: "The driver selected for this device does not support this version of Windows." Trying to run the installer for a number of different versions of the AMD catalyst driver just results in the installer saying it completed successfully but not installing the driver. This is getting extremely infuriating and I need some help with this nonsense.

Yes I am. I am using 64 bit (as I have an Athlon 64 x2 4200+ in this PC)

Alright I'll give that a go. I haven't run DDU yet on the machine.

I might also double check your version of Windows is 64 bit? Unless you know for sure. I have seen PCs from this era where 32 bit Windows is installed on a machine with a 64 bit CPU.

It is 64 bit Windows. I checked in the System tab

I have both an ATi HD 4670 and a 3850 AGP. Both say that their drivers are incompatible even though they are. Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. I have tried to manually install the drivers because the catalyst installer flat out wouldn't install the drivers. I have also already tried DDU. Help would be appreciated.

Are they AGP or PCIe graphics cards?
If AGP, try the Vista drivers. Otherwise, they may not be compatible.

Did you get the windows 7 64bit driver from amd? If you get the windows 8 driver it of course won't work.

 

Could also be the I assume cracked windows as we all know ultimate is used by 99,99% pirates :p.

I got the Windows 7 64 bit driver yes. And no this version is activated.

Both are AGP as that is all my motherboard has. I have tried the Vista drivers as well but these cards both have driver support going up to Windows 8

Are you able to try Vista? 7 apparently had some AGP bugs.
Make sure SP2 is installed.

I could try vista but that would take an eternity to download, install, and not have a product key for. I'd also have to find a flipping DVD-R around here

He's suggesting to use the Vista drivers, not install Windows Vista.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo its installed now. I am confusion. Apparently filming it fixes it. Welp Radeon HD 3850 AGP now is installed properly with drivers and all. Hurrah!

Aaaaand now that I tried to go back to my 4670 (the drivers made the display refresh at like 1hz on the 3850) it is having the same problems again

There is and what it tells me is that the installer straight up installs everything EXCEPT for the display driver. Also trying to install the drivers manually results in this error: the driver selected for this device does not support this version of windows

I've already tried that. Just to test I threw in a Radeon 9550 XL and it booted and installed the drivers AUTOMATICALLY. So idk wtf is going on rn.

Ok So here pictured is the 4670. I installed the 3850 into the computer and it looks like the drivers are installing properly [fingers crossed] this time.

3850 drivers installed and the screen refreshes at .5 fps. No joke. Idk what is even going on anymore.

In fact the system falls on its face with the 3850 drivers installed. It can't render anything and just gives up
