Slow/No connectivity unless I use VPN

Go to solution Solved by c00face,

Thanks for the help guys. I figured out half the problem, it's my IPv6. I just turned it off and using IPv4. Everything is now running fine. Onto the next step, how do I change settings for IPv6 or reset it?

I can't seem to figure out the problem with my internet. I get almost throttled or no connectivity while surfing, youtube, and website just refuse to load. The problem disappears as soon I turn on a VPN.

1) It only affects my PC. All other PC in the household runs just fine.

2) I tested hardware, ethernet wire, and router... Everything is fine.

3) I recently updated Windows 10, but I also reset my PC to factory setting and it was still causing this problem.

4) This wasn't the case 2-weeks ago, didn't had this problem.

5) I cannot restore as I already reset my PC.

6) Running VPN fixes the problem and I am able to surf, youtube, gmail without any delays, slow downs, or refusing to load.

7) I changed browser and nothing seems to work unless I turn on VPN.

8) I updated network adapter driver to latest.

I am at lost here and need some assistance. My thought is that there is probably some Windows feature that is causing this.

Try changing your DNS servers on your computer manually and see.

To do this follow these steps:

Open start menu and type in Network Status

Click on Change Adapter options

Right click your ethernet or wifi connection and select properties

Find Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP) Highlight and click properties.

Select the radial that says Use the following DNS server Addresses:

Enter in your own DNS servers you prefer to use.

Commonly used ones include 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4, 4.2.2.2, 4.2.2.1, 1.1.1.1 and click OK.

Tried this multiple times, changing DNS. I just tried again to see and doesn't fix the problem. Also changed it for IPv6

important info you left out then from your OP. I would double check and ensure you didn't leave anything else out.

Just a theory. Are your ISP throttling your traffic? It might explain why your vpn still works ok. An isp cant see what your doing when you have the vpn on.

Also did you go to speed test.net and run comparison speed tests? Vpn off and on. One for each.

Just disable IPv6, not a lot uses it yet in the world so its still in its infancy and not necessary, especially if its causing issues.
