Building budget for a kid, in need of confirmation

Cantafford

Budget (including currency): Around 1000 euros. The budget is ok provided the components I chose are good enough.

Country: Romania

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Modern games I suppose.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

As mentioned I need to build a gaming PC for someone who will use it to play games :D. I have chosen some components which I assume are ok but since I don't have much experience building PCs please help me out by looking and telling me if it's ok or if I should change something without going off budget too much. Also I added questions related to each component under each category.

Processor: i7-9700k

https://www.pcgarage.ro/procesoare/intel/coffee-lake-core-i7-9700k-360ghz-box/

Cooler for processor: Deepcool

https://www.pcgarage.ro/coolere/deepcool/gammaxx-gte-v2-rgb/

Under the description it says that this cooler is for processors with 1151 socket. The one I've chosen is 1151v2. Will the cooler be compatible with the processor?

Motherboard: MSI MPG Z390

I've chosen this by looking at what type of memory it supports(DDR4) and the processor socket.

Also it has Has PCI Express x16 3.0 video interface which suits the GPU.

I think this is ok, do I need to consider something else?

GPU: Rtx 2060

https://www.pcgarage.ro/placi-video/zotac/geforce-rtx-2060-twin-fan-6gb-gddr6-192-bit/

Ram: 32Gb DDR4 Crossair Vengeance

https://www.pcgarage.ro/memorii/corsair/vengeance-lpx-black-32gb-ddr4-3200mhz-cl16-dual-channel-kit-2/

Edit: I will use: https://www.pcgarage.ro/memorii/hyperx/fury-black-16gb-ddr4-2666mhz-cl16-dual-channel-kit/

PSU: Segotep 80+, 650W, ATX size

https://www.pcgarage.ro/surse/segotep/gp750g-80-plus-gold-650w/

I think I need:

20+4 pin connector that powers the motherboard. I guess all power supplies have this.

4 or 8 pin connector for the CPU + it's fan

8 pin PCI-E for powering the GPU

SATA cable for powering the SSD - it has 6

SSD: Samsung 1TB

https://www.pcgarage.ro/ssd/samsung/860-evo-1tb-sata-iii-25-inch/

Case: ATX, AQIRYS

It's ATX. The motherboard is also ATX size and the PSU was chosen to be ATX compatible.

https://www.pcgarage.ro/carcase/aqirys/canopus/

Please tell me if the setup is ok and if I was wrong somewhere. Thank you very much and sorry for the long post!

Building a Coffee Lake based system nowadays doesn't make much sense, considering both Intel and AMD have newer and better options. Not that there's something inherently wrong with the system you put together, but there might be better alternatives for the money.

What's your budget in RON?

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

Display: Gigabyte G34WQC

If it's just for a gaming rig, a Intel Core i5 should already suffice. Also I'm not sure if 9th gen i7 is a good choice. Recently the 10th gen has gotten a price drop, which makes them interesting compared to Ryzen. Look around if you can find good prices for them, sometimes even cheaper than 9th gen like you chose.

Also, the PSU you chose is unknown and is highly likely a bad and not long lasting PSU. Gold rating does NOT always mean it's good quality, it just means more power and money saving over long time use. It's also about the capacitors, failsafe protections, etc. See the PSU tier list and choose a brand name one from at least Tier B.

Finally, I think 32GB RAM is overkill for just a gaming PC. 16GB is fine for most needs, the set you chose if a good one though.
The motherboard, GPU, SSD and case are all good.

Graphics cards are overpriced now, and this setup will actually be outperformed significantly by a PlayStation 5. I would get him one of those instead.

cooler: yes this will work

Ram: I would say 32gb for gaming is not necessary (for now atleast) maybe you can get a kit of 2666 or 2933 16 gb and spend the other money on a better cpu or gpu (as @Mateyyy said)

I don't know much about intel... so I'll let others answer

Hi. Thank you all for the answers that was quick.

@Mateyyy, @FRD
I understand. However his request was that I should use i7-9700k and RTX2060 lol. Basically my job is to find components that are compatible with those since he does not know how to do this :P. I will also consider dropping from 32gb to 16gb.
I will consider another power supply. Altough it is Gold and 650W and the reviews I found for it are good.

I see, that's his request. Other options you can consider are the 9700, 9700F, 9700KF. F is without integrated GPU, K is for overclocking, KF is the combination of both. Newer options to consider are the i7 10700F or 10700. I'm from a different country in Europe and they are all really similarly priced.

About the power supply, if you really consider it, find a in-depth review where they measures the ripple, etcetera. 5-star reviews are not always trustable for reviews, because for some people it's fine if it can "just" deliver power and not die quickly. If the kid ever wants to upgrade to RTX 3000, there's a high chance a lesser known PSU won't be able to handle the high power draw and just cut out. For RTX 2060 most PSU's are fine, but I recommend getting a quality one.

By the way about the cooler. There is no socket such as 1151v2. Usually if it says 115x, it means every of those Intel sockets are compatible, which are 1155, 1150, 1151.
