I need help finding a good 1155 pair for my 750 ti to upgrade a prebuilt

EatsOctoroks

Budget (including currency): $30

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft, Overwatch

Other details: Going on a Gateway DX4860 mobo. I already own the 750ti, I just need a cheap CPU that won't get bottlenecked.

I've looked into i5-2400s, and maybe some old xeon e3s but I don't need much processing power.

You said you don’t need much. There’s not many skus between the 2100 and the 2400.

I5 2300? I think the 2100 would be fine, the 750ti isn’t that fast of a gpu.

Personally I'd get a Core i5-2400 if you can. You'll get 4 physical cores instead of 2 with the 2100.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

so I thought there was some pentium 2 core chip in there, it's actually a 2100! I finally got it all put together and the 2100 is maxed out just installing a game. I think I will need to upgrade.

Just look for any lga 1155 i5, or an e3 123x if you can find them below $30.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

In your budget you should be able to get a 2400. It's still a rock solid chip for a lot of things these days. I've got 3 of them in active 24/7 use.

I got a good deal on a 2400 and it keeps up well with the 750ti at 1080 low. Minimal bottleneck.
