Of course the market is difficult at the moment, but a 1080 Ti is about RTX 2080 performance, which is RTX 3070 performance, so $1200 seems like an absurd price.

I'd tend to agree - but this is kind of like 500$ Playstation 1 discs... demand and supply, you want it, you pay for it. 

 

I just looked it up out of curiosity - no new ones available, only the lowest low tier ones and used at 

these prices... 

 

So 1200($) new seems fair *if* it's a good one like MSI GAMING X or some such.

Which means, don't buy a GPU now. Or buy a really old used one, many are still faster than a 710, like the GTX970. Those are still somewhat affordable.
